Yee-Haw (Grand Prix)
This game requires that everyone be sat around in a circle or at a table making specific actions to continue the game. The are many variations of this game as described in other articles on this blog. Being the first person to make a mistake is required to drink three fingers worth of their drink. Following, the basic, standard version of the game is described. Although the other versions can be a lot more fun (and complicated), they are all based on the following rules.
The player who begins the game shouts ‘Yee-Haw’ and clenches their fist while pushing it across their body in the direction they want to continue the game in. Once this is done, the game continues with the following rules:
When a player calls out ‘Yee-Haw’, with the first clenched against the body in a left or right direction, the direction of play moves to the applicable player. A call of ‘Hoe Down!’ must be done with the other arm and in this case, the direction of play goes round the other way.
If a player calls ‘Hay Bard’, with the arms raised over the head (resembling a roof of a barn), this means that the next player is excluded from the round.
Shouting out ‘Cow Girl’ with both hands cupped together means that the direction of play is not only reversed, but the first player is also skipped.
Of these three rules, no more than more than three, including three, may be used in a row. If this happens, the player to break the rule needs to drink two fingers worth of their drink followed by the phrase ‘Three in a row’ being chanted by all the players in the game.
The round ends when a player makes a mistake and then has to drink three fingers worth as a penalty, but they have the opportunity to begin the next round.
